Documentation — Product Health Check

Product Health Check is a read-only reporting tool. This page explains exactly what it checks, its limits, and how it fits into your workflow. For a quick walkthrough, see the Tutorial; for common questions, see the FAQ.

What gets checked

For every product in your catalog, the app checks for:

• Title — flagged if the product has no title.
• Description — flagged if the description is empty once HTML formatting is stripped out.
• Media — flagged if the product has no image or other media attached.
• Price — flagged if the product's first variant has a price of 0.00.
• Category — flagged if no product category is set, including products left at Shopify's default "Uncategorized" placeholder.
• Metafields — flagged if the product has no metafields at all.
• Product type — flagged if the type field is empty.
• Vendor — flagged if the vendor field is empty.
• Collections — flagged if the product isn't in any collection.
• Tags — flagged if the product has no tags.

Scan limits

Each scan checks up to 500 products. Stores with larger catalogs will see a banner noting that only the first 500 products (by the Admin API's default ordering) were included in that pass.

Permissions

The app requests a single scope, read_products. It cannot read customers, orders, or store settings, and it cannot create, edit, or delete anything in your store on its own — every fix happens in your own Shopify admin.

Data handling

Product data is fetched live on each scan and is never stored. The only thing kept on our server is the access token created when you install the app, which is deleted when you uninstall. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
